Vision Continues to Gain Momentum as HathiTrust Grows

Oct 26, 2010
Another university has joined forces with HathiTrust, and the shared digital repository that was co-founded by the CIC continues to gain momentum.

The Utah Statesman, the student newspaper of Utah State University, reported in its Friday, Oct. 21 editions that Utah State had signed an agreement to join the HathiTrust.

"HathiTrust, a self-described "bold idea with big plans" was founded by the Committee on Institutional Cooperation with the stated goal of establishing a repository for universities to archive and share their digitized collections," wrote the paper.

HathiTrust now has more than 30 members and recently passed 7 million volumes in its collection.

The article quotes Betty Rozum, associate dean for technical services, as saying: "This is a wonderful step for Utah State.  It will help students further their research and help shape the future of scholarly communication."
