Dr. James J. Duderstadt, president emeritus of the University of Michigan, will present his ideas for a "master plan for higher education in the Midwest" at the Global Midwest Program on March 31 in Chicago. The Global Midwest Program is co-sponsored by the Chicago Council on Global Affairs and the CIC.

The Global Midwest Program also will feature a conversation with leading experts, including University of Illinois President Michael Hogan, about how to reform higher education and keep the Midwest globally competitive. It will take place March 31 at the University Club of Chicago; doors open at 5:30 p.m.

Dr. Duderstadt will present a Chicago Council Global Midwest Initiative Heartland Paper entitled “A Master Plan for Higher Education in the Midwest: A Roadmap to the Future of the Nation’s Heartland” at the event.

"Our universities have a commitment to this region and the success of this region in an emerging global economy," said CIC Director Barbara McFadden Allen. "We see this as an example of our partnership to engage and energize our membership around a variety of topical areas."

The public is invited. Advance registration for the event is available via the Chicago Council on Global Affairs website.
