OCLC Research, the CIC and The Ohio State University Libraries are hosting a symposium March 27-28, 2014 at the OCLC Conference Center in Dublin, Ohio to broaden community conversation about regional print management strategies. Library managers, collection development officers, and consortium administrators are invited and encouraged to attend. OhioLINK is also proud to support and participate in this regional research collaboration.
During the symposium, you’ll hear from library leaders who are actively implementing shared print arrangements at a variety of scales, from small consortia to state and region-wide initiatives. Key findings from an OCLC Research and Ohio State University Library analysis of CIC print books will also be shared and used to anchor discussions about the opportunities for cooperative management of monographic collections. This investigation considered academic collections from three different perspectives: as an institutional resource, as a shared consortial resource, and as part of a loosely coordinated larger system of libraries. Findings from the study will be published in a report by OCLC in February 2014.
The OCLC Conference Center in Dublin, Ohio is located within easy driving distance of most CIC institutions and many other universities in the Midwest and Northeast. The registration fee of $125 ($100 for early bird registration ends February 28) covers the program, tours, and meals. The symposium will begin the afternoon of March 27th and adjourn in the early afternoon of March 28th.
