Governance

The HathiTrust’s Board of Governors and the Program Steering Committee are responsible for the mission, goals and management of the Digital Library as well as the preparation of a development agenda for programmatic actions. The Big Ten Academic Alliance has broad representation in HathiTrust governance. The University of Michigan and Indiana University are each allocated one appointed seat. The remaining founding institutions of the Big Ten Academic Alliance, as a consortium, are each allocated two appointed seats.

Two agreements govern the development, investment, and stewardship of the HathiTrust Digital Library. Each participating Big Ten Academic Alliance library has signed a Memorandum of Agreement with the Big Ten Academic Alliance. In turn the Big Ten Academic Alliance, on behalf of its members, has signed a Shared Digital Repository Collaborative Effort Agreement between the Regents of the University of Michigan and the Big Ten Academic Alliance.
