SROP Featured in Campus Media; Application Closes Feb. 10

Jan 25, 2011

Two campuses that participate in CIC SROP have featured the program in online campus media in the past year.

The University of Iowa and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign  published online articles highlighting different aspects of CIC SROP.

Most recently, the newsletter from Illinois Promise Student Services profiled a 2010 SROP alumnus,
Mauriell Amechi.

The proile read, "Reflecting on his experience, Mauriell explained, 'SROP gave me an opportunity to confirm that educational research was my true calling.' "

The University of Iowa featured Diana Bryant, its longtime SROP coordinator, in an article that originally appeared in Feb. 2010.

“Over the years, I have seen the results of our program and been very proud to see so many students go on to graduate school programs,” Bryant said in the article."

The application for the 2011 CIC SROP (Summer Research Opportunities Program) closes Feb. 10.

SROP is a gateway to graduate education at CIC universities; it helps prepare undergraduates for graduate study through intensive research experiences with faculty mentors and enrichment activities. The goal of the program is to increase the number of underrepresented students who pursue graduate study and research careers.
