The article, "UI leads global interdisciplinary project" highlights University of Illinois business professor Joseph Cheng's efforts to develop the large-scale collaborative research effort, which encompasses seven CIC institutions as well as international partners. Its first research summit, which Cheng describes in the article as a "bold experiment," will take place April 1-2 in the Chicago area.

The paper also quoted CIC Director Barbara McFadden Allen saying it's "one of the core strategic objectives of the organization to figure out how to connect industry, government and academia in new innovation."
